Event: Beers 4 Books 1st Anniversary Celebration w/John Wood @ Happo-en
"35,000 books and growing--have a drink, create a treasured book for kids"
What: Benefit
Start Time: Wednesday, March 3 at 8:00pm
End Time: Wednesday, March 3 at 11:00pm
Where: Happo-En http://www.facebook.com/l/d0c6e;www.happo-en.com/

Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for a VERY special Beers for Books celebration with Room to Read founder John Wood at one of Tokyo's finest traditional Japanese-style venues, Happo-en!

John will make a short presentation around 9PM to share with you some of the latest developments with Room to Read and together we'll honor the magic of books and the power of literacy in a really fun way.

John was recently named by Barron's Magazine as one of the world's top philanthropists (#11) along with others you may know such as Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Magic Johnson, Brad Pitt, etc. and his message about childhood literacy is eye-opening and inspiring.

Speaking of literacy, we'll be creating a lot of books on the night for kids. In addition to celebrating the 1st year since the launch of Beers for Books, we also estimate we might even break the 50,000 book mark (with your help ;-)) at the event.

For those of you new to Beers for Books, the concept is simple: For every drink you have, 100 yen will be donated to Room to Read and that buys a treasured book for children via Room to Read.

Room to Read is an amazing NPO whose mission is to provide quality educational opportunities to children in developing countries with the goal of empowering kids via literacy. Room to Read has projects in 9 countries in Asia and Africa including Nepal, Cambodia, Zambia, etc. For more details see www.roomtoread.org
or in Japanese www.roomtoread.jp
.

The cost of this event will be only 3,000 yen in advance/3500 yen at the door and includes light food and 2 drinks with every drink creating one book for kids. More details to follow, but for now, please save the date, plan to be there, and tell everyone you think might be interested in joining us.
